Music to have babies to…

I was thinking the other day about CDs and songs I should take to the hospital to inspire Charlotte while giving birth to the twins. I enlisted the help of some people on a forum and here’s the initial list we have come up with:

The Verve - The drugs don’t work
Salt ‘n Pepper - Push it
Cat Stevens - I can’t keep it in
Tears for Fears - Shout, shout, let it all out
Thompson Twins - Doctor, Doctor
Tina Turner - Don’t leave me this way
The Beatles - Help!
Britney Spears - Baby One More Time (particularly apt for twins…)
Britney Spears - Born to make you happy
D-Ream - Things can only get better
Madness - My girl’s mad at me
Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Relax
Iggy Pop - Baby it can’t fall

If you have any additions to the compilation please let me know…

Finishing up with:

Natalie Imbruglia - Torn (Only Joking!)

Hi

The birth is soon over(-ish) and you need to prepare yourself for being like a mini-celebrity each time you take the babes for a walk.

My identical twin aughters were 2 months early. They are now a civilised 9, but I remember being mobbed every time I went out, and would hear the same things over and over again.

I got thoroughly fed up up in particular with “double trouble”. My retort was “no, twice as nice”. They would ask if my babies were telepathic. My reply was “I’ll ask them when they can talk”. Finally, I was always asked why I had twins. The braver would even ask if I’d had IVF (like you’d divulge your fertility history to a complete stranger). My reply was that they were a product of a good night. That would shut them up!

Anyway, it’s wonderful having twins. The first year was hard, but it’s been more or less a doddle since as they amuse each other. They were born at the end of August, instead of October, but it has made no difference being the youngest in the year. They were late walking, but have a reading age more than 3 years older than their real age.

Good luck and welcome to a relatively exclusive club!

Thanks for that. OK so I now need to create a blog for all the best comments parents have come up with to shut up nosey strangers! I like “Twice as Nice” - I hope I’ll remember to use that - obviously I’ll give you due credit when I do!
