Petition the Prime Minister to give a fairer deal to families with multiple births
Currently the Child Tax Credit given to families of multiples is £545 per pregnancy, not per child. Therefore, families with twins or triplets lose out on a considerable financial benefit as a result of this inequality and discrimination. So, I am asking people to sign the petition created by my hero/heroine of the hour, Jenny Turner, whoever she is.

The petition says this:

“We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to ensure that families with twins or more receive Child Tax Credit for each child.”

The background to this petition is as follows:

“The baby element of Child Tax Credit (£545, payable while child is under 1) is only paid per pregnancy rather than per child, which means that families with twins or other multiple births miss out on a valuable monetary benefit. We consider this to be unfair discrimination and this distinction should be abolished immediately so that these families receive a payment per child.”Click here to sign up for the petition.

Deadline for signatures: 26 January 2008

So far, Jenny’s petition has received a great response - and the more the merrier. E-petitions are very simple and quick to complete - I know as I joined another one not so long ago. So please spare a couple of minutes by following the above link and joining the petition.

Right, that’s it, I’m getting off the soapbox now.
